Aquaclay®Ground
Apart from selecting a proper filtration system, the
ground substrate is the next most important element for a successful
maintenance of aquariums and ponds.
Research shows that the water flow through the ground is very
important for the growth of aquatic plants. A higher or better flow of
water through the substrate causes the temperature from the root to the
leaves to be equally distributed. Simultaneously a sufficient nutrient
basis is present.
The substrate should have an optimal granulation of 1 to 4 mm for
aquariums and maximum 10 mm for ponds, bearing in mind that the ideal
height of the ground substrate should be 80 mm.
The
fine granulation of the substrate facilitates the laying out of aquatic
plants and gives them a strong root hold. This reflects in the
improvement of nutrients supply. The plants will be stronger and more
attractive.
In garden ponds Aquaclay®
Ground will be used in the same way. Aquaclay®
F 4-10 is also recommended
as ground substrate for garden ponds. The
large settlement of bacteria will help to break down the pollutants. The
outcome will be a clear water and a slow down of the algae growth.
